"I DON'T I GET A "HIGH" FROM MY PRE-WORKOUT ANYMORE"

'I DON'T I GET A "HIGH" FROM MY PRE-WORKOUT ANYMORE'

I've had several people come to me in utter distress complaining that they no longer feel a "high" or a "rush" during their workouts.

(This, of course, is after they've already exceeded the recommended dose of their pre-workout by 2 or 3 scoops; in addition to their normal intake of coffee and/or energy drinks.)

Hate to break it to you, (not really) but many times that lack of "rush" or "high" is directly linked to what's happening with your brain chemistry.

Brain chemicals are the root for feeling "high" and "low." Whether it's anxious or calm; excited or dampened, infatuated and newly in love...it's all brain chemistry.

That's brain chemistry in action. Nearly everything you put into your body: food, drink, drug, supplement or substance affects your brain chemicals.

Ya know how a drug addict is always "chasing the high?" That's because they've developed a tolerance to their drug/s of choice.

Similarly, chronic usage of products and consumption of foods/beverages which have stimulant properties can cause you to develop a "tolerance" to them, which translates out into your no longer feeling that pleasurable "rush" or "high" as you once did.

Picture a Ferris wheel.  Let's say that all of the seats on the Ferris wheel are full.  In order for more people to get on, they have to first let some people off, right?

Thats EXACTLY how your body works when it comes to stimulant. Throw back to cellular biology, or physiology...this has to do with saturation of the adrenergic receptors.  Once those receptors are full, you have to let them clear/offload before they can accept new particles.
