Saturday Straight Talk: HABITS

Welcome to Saturday Straight Talk.   Today's Topic Is:  HABITS.

Habits are things we do routinely, or perform a certain way.  Good or bad, we've all got a lot of them.  How we fix our coffee in the morning, how we sit while driving a car, how we communicate, how we spend money, how we meal prep (or don't!)...everything in our lives that is "just how I do it," is a habit.

I've got a simple question for you:  How long does it to develop a new habit?  Is it 21 days?  90 days?  Seriously...how long DOES it take?

WRONG.  IT TAKES ONE MOMENT.

STRAIGHT TALK FROM YOUR COACH:  Developing a NEW habit takes one moment; ONE MOMENT TO DECIDE.

One moment to DECIDE I'm not staying here.

One moment to DECIDE to start exercising.

One moment to DECIDE to put that drink down.

One moment to DECIDE to control your spending.

One moment to DECIDE to become financially independent.

One moment to DECIDE that whatever the goal is, you will do anything and everything, as much as it takes for however long it takes, to get the outcome you desire.  Period.

That's the honest answer.

Now how long it takes you to do those things so that they feel natural is another story.

You can sit all day in a class or on a webinar to learn new concepts and advanced skill sets, but until you actively and repetitively practice them, nothing changes.   The skill or task will remain just as it is, foreign and unnatural.

HERE'S WHAT YOU GOTTA KNOW:  The Only Way to Make a New Habit Feel Natural Is Through Training.

Training merely means practice.  Practicing a skill or a task over and over until it becomes easy and effortless.  Eventually, that thing which was once so foreign and unnatural becomes second nature to you.  Soon enough, you'll be able to do it without thinking AND BEFORE LONG, you'll gain mastery over it.

So notice, this requires consistency on your part to take the initiative and DO IT-from the beginning, even if you are awkward, and consistently follow through on it until you achieve the success you desire.

THIS WEEK'S COACH'S CHALLENGE:  Pick something you've been procrastinating doing that you'd like to start doing, or something that you'd like to get better at.  Do it one time.  The following day, do it twice.  The day after that, do it three times, etc.  Keep going, adding one more "rep" to your training set every day.

As Always:  Hustle while they party.  Grind while they sleep.  Results require no explanation.  Put your nose to the grindstone and get $#!+ done.

Make It A Powerful Week!
