The #1 Lie All Busy People Tell Themselves
The #1 Lie All Busy People Tell Themselves: "I'll remember that."
Perhaps second only to one other lie: "I've read the terms and conditions." hahaha
Honestly, on our best day, we cannot possibly remember everything. And while our brain is arguably the most underutilized machine on the planet, we're not designed to remember everything.
So what does everybody do?
We set reminders for ourselves!!
Lists, apps, alarms...And sometimes they help.
But have you ever noticed that there's still things that slip through the cracks?
Frustrating in and of itself, but how about when we then chalk it up to the excuse of "I'm just so busy!"
The Cause Is Obvious: MENTALLY TRYING TO JUGGLE TOO MANY THINGS.
The Irony: It's become socially accepted as a legit excuse, BUT EVERYONE HATES IT.
Why allow it, then?
Here's Some Perspective: Let's say you get a nice-sized cut on your hand that needs stitches. When you show up in the ER, does the Doctor immediately throw a bunch of stitches in there?
Heck No!!
Step one is to first stop the bleeding (aka control the hemorrhage).
We can use all the stitches, bandages and skin glue in the world to seal the edges of the cut together, but unless the CAUSE of the bleeding is stopped, nothing will work. The bleeding will eventually leak through.
So when you're working to Get Your $#!+ Together and Get Organized, ask yourself, "Have I controlled the hemorrhage?" or "Am I trying to fix it with solutions that are the equivalent of a bandage in the face of a major bleeder?"
