The Art Of Facing New Challenges When All The Gyms Are Closed
At the time I write this blog post, we are in the midst of a National-scratch that-a GLOBAL Crisis of mass proportion we have never seen. Not to diminish the current events in any way-but I'm sure we can all agree that you're wishing for this whole thing (and all associated words which include: virus, Corona, COVID-19, and quarantine) to just go away.
Unfortunately, it is our reality right now. I know if you follow this blog, you are doing everything in your power to be responsible and stop the growth and spread.
I also know that-like me-you're an uncommon breed. Someone whose therapy, social circle and happy place is within the gym, and that you're having a rough time because all of the gyms been forced to close.
By now most of us have done some sort of a modified workout at home-but let's face it, it's just not the same.
I wish I had a crystal ball or special powers to look into the future and say when this will be over. The truth is: nobody knows. We have no idea how long our current way of life will go on, if it will get any worse, or whether this will be the beginning of a recurrent cycle of events or downward spiral.
Which brings us back to the issue at hand: THE GYM IS OUR THERAPY AND HAPPY PLACE. AND WE CAN'T GET IN THERE!!
Anyone started growling yet? Lashing out at anyone within ear shot? Yelling at your phone, or even into the air-just because?
I get it.
First things first: Let's take a quick sec and remember two things:
We have one another (even if it is via FaceTime or Skype), and we have our health. For those things we are grateful!
But for those of us (and I include myself in here) who are having a rough time because our gym is closed, I felt it appropriate to share some highlights from the discussions I've had with my High-Intensity Training Athletes (aka the cray-cray ones who love to lift heavy $#!+) this week that may help you.
Specifically, things to be on the lookout for as you adjust from training in a gym setting to home/outside, particularly how to navigate your bio-chemistry amidst these changes, along with some Champion Mindset Coaching.
It's right here in this quick video.
Let's stay safe and continue training hard!
